This week Tasos Stamou, a sound artist, will arrive at\u00a0ResidenceSEA. His project is to\u00a0approach traditional Cretan music and the geographic space of Crete, using contemporary music media.\"10928890_10153190282778909_6060537082233288498_o\" Tasos will use electronic manipulation of original instrumental and field recordings (urban and rural), rare archived recordings and a series of studio recordings to createa new contemporary music piece. Part of the research will be done via open rehearsals and collective improvisations at ResidenceSEA, using the participants\u2019 perception and experience of Cretan music.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Tasos Stamou is an electro-acoustic music composer, free-improvised multi-instrumentalist music performer and DIY music technology tutor, based in London. He has presented his sound works at the BENT Festival in New York, \u00a0the SOTU FESTIVAL in Lithuania, at Cafe Oto in London, and in many other places. He\u00a0collaborates with various important contemporary sound artists \u00a0such as Steve Beresford, Adam Bohman, Tomomi Adachi, Valerio Tricoli, Ignaz Schick, etc. His work\u00a0has been released through a web of independent exploratory music labels like Absurd, Orila, Triple Bath, Kukuruku Recordings, Linear Obsessional Recordings, Lal Lal Lal, etc.\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
