On Friday 28th of March at 22:00 in Heraklion

The residenceSEA will present FUNCTION FOLLOWS ::PER::FORM::ER:: a work of Emanuel Andel new media artist from Vienna and Sara de Santis italian dancer and choreographer.

They are collaborating together since 2013 between Italy, Austria and Holland and now they meet at SEA for two intense weeks of research to exploit space and time choreography.

The interior architecture of the residenceSEA is directly connected to the motion of the performer and the music via a 3d tracking system. The environment as well as the motion of the dancer is captured and used to build the projections that turns the same structure into one big dispositive.

This open a dialogue between the mechanism and the human, the dependencies change up to a point where the performer not only controls the rhythm of the music but transforms from an object that has been shaped, to a designer in charge.

Soon, the new world starts to generate it’s own behaviors based on the inconsistencies of the performer – limiting the freedom of the dancer and pushing it into a new form of rhythm, which is – in time – less and less influenced by its maker.
