Maria Morschitzky will stay for a month in Crete at ResidenceSEA experimenting with shadows of drawings. She researches the possibilities of movement of drawings and shapes, with shadow projections of moveable light sources. She tries to discover and develop some “old-school” techniques of animation (drawings on paper with pastel chalk, and some kind of pre cinematic projection). Her goal at residenceSEA is to create an audiovisual performance and/or installation with animated video-sequences where landscape, nature and people are waiting to be expressed and reflected in her work.
Maria Morschitzky was born in 1983 in Linz, lives and works in Salzburg. She studied Arts Education at Mozarteum University, most recently under Beate Terfloth in the graphic design program. She was a finalist for the Ö1 talent scholarship in 2011. Last year her works were shown in the group shows Das Werdende Wissen at the Salzburger Kunstverein and Correspondence at Galerie 5020 in Salzburg. She has partecipated in many festivals and exhibitions across Europe.
